Road Trip Time

It's a mere 14 hours until one of my best adventure activities - Adventure bike riding, aboard my trusty BMW R 1150 GS Adventure, aptly named "The Pig" due to its burbling exhaust, and bulbous "belly", a.k.a fuel tank!

I'm a huge motorcycle fan, have been since the age of 8 when I had my first go on a KX 65 motocross bike. Whether it was the smell of the 2 stroke fumes, or the sensation of speed, acceleration and raw brute force I can't say...but I've been hooked ever since. My Mom has always said that I should have been born with 2 wheels out of my bottom!

The rest is history, and tomorrow I add to that by going on a little journey to the mother city, Cape Town. The main planner of this trip is non other than my biggest hero, my Dad, John. He has managed to drag my poor mother, Lolly, along for the 10 day ride, and I have 2 friends, Dave & Natasjia joining us on their BMW.

For the next 7 days we will be bike bound, steering towards Kommetjie, via some of the most scenic routes, passes and vast expanses on offer in our beautiful country. There is a certain freedom and adrenalin rush that only a motorcycle can give you, and being in the back country is a special place to be.
